Finale: ‘Giving Back is the new Black’
Phew! – it was the last show of the spectacular 2012 Perth Fashion Festival and it certainly ended on a huge high with the closing event entitled ‘Giving Back is the new Black’ which invited 17 leading designers (including our best pals, ‘Wheels & Doll Baby’) to interpret the classic black dress in a bespoke runway show. Later a second contrasting, more colourful runway offering entertained the crowd. Held at the WA Government House, VIP guests were treated to a unique and intimate masquerade-themed night, with proceeds going to the charity ‘Ready to Work’ which supports disadvantaged, disabled and long-term unemployed women to enter the workforce.
Befitting the sophisticated theme, Brad and the L’Oreal Professionnel team created ‘Valentino-esque’ French rolls, chignons and oversized cotton-candy beehives for the ‘black dress’ parade, while opting for oversized buns echoing Katherine Hepburn for the the second parade. It was certainly a night of style and glamour!
…and so this superb event was the culmination of a huge week for Brad and his L’Oreal Professionnel team…
“Hairdresser to the stars, Brad Ngata, who with his team of L’Oreal experts created a striking hairstyle each night said he had lost count of how many hairdos they had created (for the Perth Fashion Festival) event but estimated it was around 200. This was his second PFF and Ngata said his team had become a well-oiled machine. “In the midst of the flurry and hectic atmosphere, professionalism comes through and adrenaline gets you over the line”, he said last night. “It takes an army to create these beautiful swans you see on the catwalk.” – The West Australian
